Birth chart calculator

Your full birth chart starts with your big three. Find yours in seconds.

Houses

Placidus houses. Whole sign above the polar circles.

The wheel is the chart

Your Sun, Moon and rising, drawn free from the exact minute and place. The full wheel in your reading adds every planet, house and aspect. Without a birth time there is no rising sign or house cusps.

A birth chart is a map of the sky at the moment and place you were born. This calculator gives your Sun, Moon and rising free. The full reading draws every planet, sign, house and major aspect in a wheel you can read on a phone, and reads them.

How this is calculated

The position

Planet positions are apparent geocentric ecliptic longitudes of date. The Sun through Pluto are included, plus the true and mean lunar nodes.

The zodiac

The Ascendant and Midheaven come from the local sidereal time and latitude. Placidus houses are used by default, with a whole sign fallback above the polar circles.

The clock

Aspects are measured between the planets and angles with orbs of five to ten degrees, wider for the Sun and Moon. The full reading draws them on the wheel and reads each one.

Questions

Is a birth chart the same as a horoscope?

A birth chart is the full map for a moment in time. A horoscope is usually a short forecast or Sun sign column. This site does not publish daily horoscopes.

What if I do not know my birth time?

The calculator uses noon and draws no houses or rising sign. The planets are still real, but the Moon and the angles are approximate. The result says this at the top.

Which house system do you use?

Placidus by default, because it is the most common system in modern Western astrology. Whole sign is used automatically above the polar circles, where Placidus is undefined.

Why are the nodes included?

The nodes are not planets, but they are part of the chart's story. The true and mean nodes are both calculated, and the full reading shows the axis on the wheel.
